Robert O’Neil to Lead Worldwide Sales Efforts

GAITHERSBURG, MD, September 15, 2008 - BroadSoft®, Inc., the leading provider of VoIP application software, today announced the appointment of Robert (Bob) O'Neil as its new senior vice president of sales. O'Neil brings more than 20 years of executive sales experience in the telecommunications industry. He will be responsible for BroadSoft's global sales efforts.

In his new role, O'Neil will oversee the development and execution of sales strategies to drive BroadSoft's expansion in both new and existing markets. A seasoned telecommunications industry executive with a focus in new product introduction and emerging technologies, O'Neil has a proven track record of driving exceptional growth and revenue generation through strategic sales for both established and start-up companies.

Most recently, he served as CEO of Covergence, Inc., a provider of session border control and session management solutions, where he was responsible for the company's strategic direction and go-to-market activities. He has held senior positions at Ciena, WaveSmith Networks (acquired by Ciena), Cascade Communications (acquired by Lucent Technologies), and Aptis Communications (acquired by Nortel Networks) Additionally, O'Neil was a venture partner with Bessemer Venture Partners, where he focused on companies in the communications industry.

O'Neil received his bachelor's degree in chemistry with honors from the University of New Hampshire.

This new position reflects BroadSoft's growing prominence in the worldwide telecommunication market and the voice application segment specifically. The company continues to expand into new markets, including its Xtended Marketplace, which has attracted hundreds of third-party developers who are developing voice mashups.
